چکیده
Abstract In this study an automated composite layup end effector is presented which the first to be able find defects in real time during using tactile shape sensing. Based around existing sensor concept developed by Bristol Robot Laboratory known as ‘TacTip’, a new developed, replacing soft gel core of original was replaced much firmer elastomer, enabling it apply up 400N compaction force. paper shown successfully detect typical such wrinkles, foreign objects, errors or incorrect material types while simultaneously compacting preimpregnated materials over complex mould shapes.

Local object shape from tactile sensing
Studies on contact problems such as shape recovery from tactile sensing involve complex geometrics and kinematics. In the rst part of the paper we introduce a convenient matrix expression of 3-D surfaces, which can be easily applied to manipulate contact constraints and kinematics equations using homogeneous transformation. In the second part of the paper we apply the notation introduced in the...
متن کاملCurvature based shape estimation using tactile sensing
In this paper we propose an approach we call it a “Blind Man’s” approach to shape description in which tactile information is sensed from the fingertips of a dexterous hand. Using this contact information, we investigate two complementary methods for curvature estimation. The first method is based on rolling one finger to estimate curvature at a point on the surface. We use Montana’s equations ...
متن کاملMatching for Shape Defect Detection
The problem of defect detection in 2D and 3D shapes is analyzed. A shape is represented by a set of its contour, or surface, points. Mathematically, the problem is formulated as a speciic matching of two sets of points, a reference one and a measured one. Modiied Hausdorr distance between these two point sets is used to induce the matching. Based on a distance transform, a 2D algorithm is propo...

Since Hippocrates, the human sense of touch has been the most prevalent and successful medical diagnostic technique. A great variety of diseases were diagnosed through tactile sensing including detection of malignant tumors. Hippocrates in 400 B.C. wrote as follows: “... Such swellings as are soft, free from pain, and yield to the finger, ... and are less dangerous than the others. ... then, as...
متن کاملReal Time Automated Fabric Defect Detection System using Microcontroller
In a Least Developed Country (LDC) like Bangladesh where the textile is the main core of our economy; still there is a major drawback in this sector which is the defect detection of the fabric. In the manual fault detection system with highly trained inspectors, very less percentage of the defects are being detected in upon fabrics in the textile industries. But a real time automatic system can...
